When you’re at the racetrack, you hit a trifecta if you pick which horses will finish first, second, and third, in the exact order. When you’re hiring for your BV practice, you must hit the candidate trifecta. What does that mean?
In a nutshell, hitting the candidate trifecta means finding someone who has the experience you’re wanting to bring on board, who is ready to consider a job change now, and either already is, or would be happy to relocate to where you are.
These are not linear touchpoints. They are more like balls that you juggle.
Hitting the candidate trifecta can be a particularly challenging task for practices in smaller or more remote markets. If there’s a candidate who is ready to make a job change and is willing to be where you are, flexibility in experience might be necessary. Even so, there are circumstances when a certain threshold of experience is required.
Thinking of the hiring process as hitting the candidate trifecta can provide helpful insight into how to fill your position.
