The time has come for a reliable employee salary survey in the BV industry. The question I hear most frequently at conferences is: How much will it cost me to hire “X”? Unfortunately, none of the firms that traditionally provide salary survey data have directly addressed the BV field. The worlds of business valuation and litigation support have a uniqueness that confounds efforts to extrapolate from standard, accounting firm salary data. Other firms do collect and analyze data from investment banking and M&A services firms. But, that’s not quite the same ballpark, either.
Beginning October 2003, Borrowman Baker will conduct the first salary survey strictly among BV practices across the country. Practitioners will be able to participate via a secure website. The survey will accept data only from firms. Each responding practice will receive a complimentary copy of the results, to be published April 2004. You’ll be able to judge, with reliable data, how best to pay your team.
The survey is currently in development under the guidance of an Advisory Group comprising nearly 20 practitioners, including some of the most respected in the industry. Their input will insure that the survey truly meets the needs of today’s BV practice, and that the results reflect “real-world” considerations.
