Henry David Thoreau is quoted as saying, “The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.”
Maybe it’s time to ask how much of your life you exchange for your practice. And if you don’t like the trade, consider Practice Builder Academy.
Practice Builder Academy is the synergistic brain-child of Rod Burkert and Mel Abraham. Both Rod and Mel are known for having developed practices that are not only successful, but satisfying to pursue. Some might argue, in fact, that satisfaction is a key marker of success.
The idea, Burkert says, has been gestating for a year or two. During that time, he’s heard colleagues talk about the struggles of figuring out how to create a lucrative practice. Add to that the fee compression that has driven rates. Burkert and Abraham have put together year-long online training program to help practitioners meet the challenges of a more evolved profession.
The basic toolkit in Practice Builder Academy is a series of strategies and tactics for growing business in general. Getting business requires creating visibility. Modules in the course will deal with public speaking, press releases, and social media. Getting business also requires differentiation. Other webinars will address how to position yourself as an expert, either in an industry or as an expert in particular engagements.
Two aspects in particular make Practice Builder Academy stand out.
- Each training will be followed by a live Q&A call. With any online training, Burkert argues, questions inevitably arise two or three days later. He and Abraham have scheduled this follow-up to get your questions answered so you get more value from the session.
- Homework. Yes, homework. Because there’s no better way to make a training session stick than to turn around and apply it.
There’s no better time to start thinking about a New Year’s Resolution that could give your practice the jump-start it might need. A big part of the program, Burkert notes, has to do with making the choice about what is “success” for you. He and Abraham are proof that you can have a practice without it consuming your life.
Practice Builder Academy launches with a preview webinar that you can catch on December 9 & 10, with replay on December 12 & 13. The first online training is January 13.
