At one time or another almost everyone wonders, “Am I in the right place?” I found myself confronting that question recently. I talked to a local career counselor, friends, colleagues and mentors in a soul searching process to determine if my current situation is best for me. It never occurred to me that I might talk to a recruiter about that question. After all, recruiters are all about convincing you that you’re not in the right place. Right?
It was a pleasant surprise to talk to John Borrowman at Borrowman Baker, LLC and realize that, “Yes, I think I am in the right place.” I had been receiving Borrowman Baker’s eNews: Your BV Career for many years, and a colleague suggested I reach out to John to have a discussion about my unique situation.
John was very responsive. We set up a time to talk over the phone. We talked for nearly 30 minutes. He asked several questions to gain an understanding of my situation, experience, and future wants. He provided specific advice on how to possibly handle my unique situation and, most importantly, provided feedback indicating I’m probably in a good situation for at least the next 12 months.
The objective feedback from a business valuation career placement professional, allowed me to have comfort with the conclusion that “I am in the right place (for now)!”
