Ever wear a pair of shoes that just don’t feel right? They may be a pretty good pair of shoes, except for that one thing. It could be that whatever it is wasn’t even there when you first brought them home. It’s just developed over time. You don’t want to have to go to the trouble of replacing them. But, still …
Could it be that your job is like that pair of shoes?
Let’s face it. No one’s job is perfect. There may be irritations that you put up with. Chances are you didn’t see them, or really have any reason to know about them when you began. It could even be that they only came along later, with the arrival of co-workers or changes in the company structure, or who knows what.
As with the shoes, the question is whether you can do something about it, and what it might cost you. And, as with the shoes, you need the help of a professional.
It could be that the real problem is other than where you think it is. That, in turn, might put a whole different spin on how and whether you might resolve the irritation.
It could be that the cost of resolving it is less – or more – than you think it might be. In either case, knowing that cost could also tell you where you might turn to achieve a resolution.
