Ever own a pair of shoes that just don’t feel right? They may be pretty good except for that one thing. Maybe it wasn’t there when you first brought them home. It just developed over time. You don’t want to have to go to the trouble of replacing them. But, still …
Could it be that your job is like that pair of shoes?
Let’s face it. No one’s job is perfect. There can be irritations you put up with. Things you didn’t see or have any reason to know about when you began. It could be that they only came along later, with the arrival of co-workers or changes in the company structure, or who knows what.
LIke with the shoes, the question is whether you can do something about it, and what it might cost you. And, like with the shoes, you need the help of a professional to get the best fit.
It could be that the real problem is not where you think it is. That would shine a different light in on how and whether you might resolve the irritation.
And it could turn out that the cost of resolving it is less—or more—than you think it might be. In either case, knowing that cost could also tell you where you might turn for a resolution.
