Business valuation is more fun and rewarding when you know why you are doing what you’re doing. How much do you know about the “why” behind the engagement?
If you are early in your BV career, you might get instructions to research a particular industry, but no one tells you what you should be paying attention to or how that research fits into the final report to the client. The result can be that when you complete your assignment, you might get a nod but no clarity about how your work fits in the big picture.
You might also be in the dark about why your practice focuses on the kind of engagements it does or the connection between macroeconomic factors and the size (large or small) of the pipeline of those projects.
The only way to fix this is to ask. There’s no reason to be shy about wanting to know more. The more you know, the faster you will grow and the more you will enjoy your work in this unique profession.
If you ask and still can’t get answers, maybe it’s time to consider taking your career to a practice where you can. Click here to set up a short call to explore your options.
