    Rising salaries in BVFLS have everyone’s attention. Maybe yours. If true, you should be looking at your situation through an accurate lens.  What does that mean?

    Compensation schemes for BVFLS professionals run the gamut from lower base with higher bonus to higher base with lower bonus. They all reflect a compensation philosophy even if management has never stopped to write it down.

    In other words, there’s more to compensation than meets the eye.

    When was the last time you asked about the compensation philosophy at the practice where you work? What does your boss consider to be compensation? You might be surprised. You might agree. Or disagree.

    The thing is: You will know. You will have a more nuanced understanding of what you’re getting for the work you are putting in. And that understanding will help you make a more apples-to-apples comparison with anything that comes along.
